Ultrasound Informed Consent Act

Monday, January 23, 2012, Congressman Jim Jordan, along with forty-four other Congressmen, introduced the Ultrasound Informed Consent Act, H.R. 3805. The bill ensures women seeking an abortion have the opportunity to see an ultrasound before consenting to an abortion procedure. Liberty Counsel Action sent a letter to Congressman Jordan expressing our support for the bill.

According to the Declaration of Independence, governments are instituted for the protection of the right to life and if the government becomes destructive to that end, the People should institute a new government. Congress not only has the authority, but the duty to pass this legislation.

In fact, this bill provides Congressmen with an opportunity to engage in bipartisan support of expectant mothers – even those who agree with the “right” to choose abortion should support this bill, as it enables women to make informed choices about the fate of their unborn children.

Should this bill receive a vote by the full body of the House of Representatives, Liberty Counsel Action will score this bill and will include the votes of every member in our Scorecard.
